Book Chon is a trusted Korean intellectual property law firm located in the picturesque district of Gahoe-dong, near traditional downtown Seoul. Founded in 1990, Book Chon represents both foreign and domestic clients in Korea and, through our trusted international partners, the rest of the world.
Our Founder, Mr. Kyung-Jae Park
Mr. Park completed his LLB at Korea’s top university, Seoul National University. He served as a public prosecutor in the Korean Department of Justice for over nine years prior to moving to the United States to pursue further studies. He attended George Washington University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Chicago Kent University earning an LLM and JD. He was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1980 and the New York Bar in 1983. Mr. Park practiced law with Baker & McKenzie in their Chicago offices before moving back to Seoul.
He established Book Chon with the goal of providing top quality, individualized IP legal services at competitive rates. Mr. Park primarily represents large blue-chip companies, multi-national corporations, and well-known academic institutions. He actively maintains many valuable relationships he established while in the United States, and this is reflected in the firm’s large number of American clients. In addition, the firm represents numerous international clients, largely in Europe and Japan
Backed by decades of experience and expertise, the Book Chon staff of 43 professionals provides services in all areas of intellectual property including patent, trademark, design, copyright, and unfair competition.
Our patent department is comprised of 8 patent attorneys and 17 paralegals working on teams specializing in the following sectors: Electric and Electronic, Mechanical and Chemical. Our patent services include:
